Free Motion Quilting

Want to create your own beautiful, custom quilting designs? Learn the basics of Free Motion Quilting!

Quilting is the process of stitching together the three layers of a quilt - the top, batting, and backing. 

No free motion experience necessary - this is a perfect class for beginners. This will be a hands-on, technique class - you will do some practice quilting but not produce a final project.

Class Supply List

  •        3-4 fat quarter quilt sandwiches
    • Each made with 1 fat quarter front / batting / 1 fat quarter back
  •        Sketch pad (or several sheets of printer paper)
  •        Pen or pencil
  •        Sewing machine (with ability to lower feed dogs)
    • Don’t forget the power cord and foot pedal!
  •        Open Toe Foot or Free Motion Foot
  •        Straight Stitch Plate (if you have one)
  •        Extension Table (if you have one)
  •        Thread:
    • 40 weight thread for the needle
    • 50 weight thread for the bobbin
  •        Needle: Microtex 90/14 or Quilting needle (have a spare just in case)
  •        Basic sewing supplies:
    • Scissors
    • Pins
    • Seam ripper
